Meltan #808

Meltan is a tiny Pokémon with a silvery liquid metal body. It has a firm head that looks like a golden hexagonal nut with a little black sphere floating within. This spherical functions as its eye. It has a scarlet tail with two small protrusions at the end that resembles an electrical wire. Meltan's liquid body is comprised of gallium, and it can shed gallium tears, according to official concept art. [1] Its arms may be made longer or shorter by stretching them.

Meltan without its head

Meltan's body has the ability to corrode metal, which it subsequently absorbs. It can produce electricity by absorbing metal and then firing it from its eye. According to Professor Willow, Meltan has been documented in ancient documents unearthed in the same spot as the Mystery Box, a strange artefact that draws Meltan to its position when opened. Professor Willow also claims that Meltan is formed from minute shards formed when a Melmetal rusts and fractures apart. Meltan is said to exist in groups until one powerful Meltan absorbs the others and evolves into Melmetal.

The hexagonal nut on its body may be removed, as shown in the anime. It has also been seen functioning in groups. When irritated, it will twist its head, making a sound that summons other members of its species. This head-spinning may also be utilized as a romantic gesture. Meltan can also be tamed if given metal-like delicacies, and it may increase in numbers over time, as demonstrated in the anime. Meltan is one of the smallest Pokémon, sharing the title of shortest Steel-type with Alolan Diglett and Klefki.
