Straw Hat Pikachu 2019 Event is Here!
Next week, Pokémon Go will get a dose of One Piece. From July 22, gamers will be able to capture a Pikachu wearing a straw hat, similar to the one worn by One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy. It's part of a fundraiser towards the rehabilitation of Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan, which was devastated by a terrible earthquake in 2016.
The Pokémon Go event is a component of the bigger of the One Piece Kumamoto Reconstruction Project . Eiichiro Oda, the author of the One Piece manga and a Kumamoto native, has offered financial and fundraising assistance to the region throughout the years. Pokémon Go's creators had already promoted the Kumamoto region by generating Snorlax in the area in the hopes of luring gamers.
In July, Luffy statues will emerge as Pokéstops in the region, and Oda's artwork will appear at Pokéstops in the future.
