Valentine's Day 2018 Event
Niantic recently decided to offer Pokemon GO trainers some new assets to enjoy in the form of new Gen 3 animals to capture, which were released to the popular mobile augmented reality game a few days ago. Today Niantic introduce the Valentine's Day 2018 Event which confirms has officially announced a special Valentine's Day event for the ARG, giving fans even more stuff to look forward to.
The game's annual Valentine's Day event for 2018 will continue from now until February 15, as shown below in a post from the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, with Luvdisc appearing in large numbers all across the world. According to Niantic, all players who participate in this year's V-Day event for PoGO will be able to earn three times the amount of Stardust for each Luvdisc they collect.
For those unfamiliar with Pokemon GO, Luvdisc is a Water-Type Pokemon that is fashioned like a heart standing on its side, and the creature is known as the "rendezvous" Pokemon. Luvdisc is often connected with love and romance in Pokemon history, with the Pokedex article for the Pocket Monster suggesting that a couple that finds this Pokemon will be rewarded with everlasting love.
Although many people may rush out to participate in this year's V-Day event for Pokemon GO, the offers for 2018 seem a little meager in contrast to the 2017 Valentine's Day event, which raised the spawn rates of various pink Pokemon such as Chansey, Porygon, Clefable, and others. Yet, the treble bonus of Stardust for every Luvdisc found will most certainly be enough to entice gamers to go out into the wilderness.
So, although some may believe Niantic scrimped on material for Pokemon GO's Valentine's Day event in 2018, it's fantastic to see the company continue delivering festive images to keep the game fresh. Nevertheless, if first player reports of Shiny Luvdiscs suddenly appearing in the game are correct (the Shiny variety is gold-colored rather than pink), it's reasonable to assume that many will find the time to traverse their own areas in search of the uncommon Pokemon.
Pokemon GO is now available for download on Android and iOS smartphones.
