2nd Anniversary Event
Several of the most eagerly awaited aspects of Pokemon Go are now finally coming to pass. Just a few months have passed since Niantic introduced friends lists and trade, and it was only days ago that research missions provided many trainers a compelling incentive to return to the game. But Niantic wants us to commemorate the game's second anniversary as we wait for player versus. player combat, which may be the next significant update.
2nd Anniversary Event is Here!
On July 6, 2016, Pokemon Go had its official debut on the App Store, making today the game's second anniversary. Niantic is holding a special event to commemorate the occasion, during which Pikachu and Pichu will spawn more regularly from now until July 31. Moreover, a Pikachu with a deadly straw hat in an unique "Summer Style" will be available.
If you still can't get enough Pikachu, the shop will provide a variety of Pikachu Fan Avatar merchandise. All the celebratory goods, including a T-shirt and Pikachu ears, will be available for purchase to anybody possessing a gold Pikachu Fan medal.
Now, the game's second anniversary celebration is running, but Niantic also has another surprise in store. The creator claims that a Special Research assignment centered on the mythical Pokémon Celebi will be accessible worldwide in the "near future." Niantic didn't provide any other information, although this is likely to replace the Mew task. In any case, you may want to give them a higher priority in the future days if you haven't finished the chores necessary to get Mew yet.
Depending on your time zone, Pokémon Go's second anniversary is today or tomorrow. Our cherished Augmented Reality game was released on July 6, 2016, and it is just becoming bigger and better. But today, the news of a small-scale event to commemorate Pokémon Go's second year is what we're here for—not to marvel at how far the game has gone!
Of usual, Pikachu has a hat motif, but this time it's not a party hat. Instead, it will be a "summer style" Pikachu wearing a straw hat and sunglasses. This event will continue from July 6th through July 31st, most likely beginning at 1pm PDT like other event start times. We really hope that this prolonged Pikachu invasion won't have an impact on our Community Day or Pokémon Go Fest spawning!
Other bonuses include:
- Having the Pikachu Fan Medal (gold being catch 300 Pikachu) will allow you to buy Pikachu fan Avatar items, including Pikachu ears! Seems that even if you have a bronze or silver badge, some features may be available to you, but trainers with a gold medal will have access to everything.
- Pichu will be more common in eggs (likely also sporting the sunglasses and hat!) and Pikachu will be more common in the wild! If you do not have your Pikachu Fan medal, now would be the time to finish it off!
- The confirmation of Celebi research??
What about that final bit, hold on. That's correct, the covert confirmation of Celebi special research, which would "be accessible internationally in the near future," was skillfully weaved into the Pikachu announcement.
While Niantic might produce a shiny summer Pikachu, we do not yet know whether this Pikachu can be shiny due to the introduction of the shiny party hat Pikachu. Please, Niantic, give it a tan!
Happy second anniversary to Pokémon Go, and in the next year, we anticipate many more entertaining activities.
