Valentine's Day 2020

Pokémon Go is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a surplus of cute, pink Pokémon until Feb. 17.

All catch candy will be doubled and Lures will last for six hours, instead of the usual 30 minutes. That being said, make sure to use Pinap Berries when catching any of the Pokémon you need candy for to reap in big rewards.

Pink Pokémon like Chansey, Clefairy, Flaaffy, Miltank, Porygon, Slowpoke, and Whismur are spawning at an increased rate. Other pink monsters like Lickitung, Tyrogue, Smoochum, and Happiny are hatching out of seven kilometer eggs.

The event introduces Unovan Pokémon Audino and Alomomola to the game, two well-fitting pink Pokémon. Happiny will also be able to be hatched Shiny, introducing its Shiny evolution line to the game.

There’s also a handful of Field Research Tasks to complete for rewards, which feature some of the pink Pokémon.

Trainers, the month of love is officially here, and this year, like the last three years, Niantic and Pokemon Go will celebrate Valentine’s Day with an in-game event, new pink Pokemon, shiny forms and interesting bonuses. From the very first day when Pokemon Go saw the light of the day, up until now, we had 3 Valentine’s Day events, in 2017, 2018 and in 2019. Now it is time for the 4th event and many interesting and different bonuses than the previous ones.

We also recommend using the Mystery Box during the weekend to rake in Meltan candy, if you have Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee or Pikachu. Melmetal needs a whopping 400 candy to evolve, so now is a great time to farm some. Meltan has also become a highly-requested Pokémon on the Pokémon Home global trade system.
