Friendship Event 2020

12 Days of Friendship is a special Pokémon GO event that celebrate the upcoming GO Beyond Update which brings Level 50, Generation VI Pokémon and Seasons into Pokémon GO. The event lasts from November 18 to November 30 1:00 p.m. PST.

Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Monday, November 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8)

Features

  • Friendship levels will increase faster than normal through opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles!
  • Receive an attack boost when you battle in raids with friends. Be sure to pick up a Remote Raid Pass in the shop to raid with friends no matter where you are!
  • You’ll earn increased XP from completing raids.
  • You can open more Gifts each day.
Additionally, you’ll earn twice the XP from catching Pokémon from Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8) – part of the GO Beyond update. If you reach level 40 before Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. local time, you’ll receive some neat rewards, like the Legacy 40 medal and Timed Research that rewards the exclusive Gyarados Hat avatar item!
Pokemon GO made some major announcements about the future of the game today. A new era of PoGO kicks off on December 1 with the GO Beyond update which will increase the level cap, introduce Seasons to the game, and make a handful of other impactful changes to the mobile AR app. Before that new era is ushered in, Niantic is rolling out one last celebration event to pave the way for GO Beyond. Today marks the start of the 12 Days of Friendship event in Pokemon GO. This event spans today through the beginning of the GO Beyond era and is designed to help players celebrate this major milestone with their friends. The coming level cap increase adds some serious motivation to finally hit 40 for players who haven't crossed that line yet, so the event is going to help out with some powerful XP bonuses over the next two weeks. RELATED: Pokemon GO Virizion Counter Guide (November 2020 Update) Players who manage to reach level 40 before the end of the calendar year will earn the Legacy Trainer badge and earn some special rewards. This may be an unrealistic goal for trainers who are still far behind, but these XP bonuses should be a major boon to players who are getting close to the finish line. It's a tough grind to hit the current max level, but a limited time offer Gyarados hat is a pretty great incentive...

This is great news for players who are on that grind to level 40, so hopefully the added bonuses will be enough to help them cross the finish line before 2021 arrives. As trainers continue working through these amazing events and waiting for the GO Beyond update to officially arrive, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal.
