Niantic has confirmed that a new Pokémon GO event would go live on November 23rd, at precisely 00:00 UTC time, only a few days after our first 0.47.1 data mining. Except from two unique mechanics, the event features no special mechanics.

The Thanksgiving Event Guide in 2016  was the second big in-game event for Pokémon Go is slated for Thanksgiving in the United States, from November 23 to November 30, during which time users will get double the standard XP and Stardust for in-game activities. The second event is a little more limited than the first, which provided candy bonuses and higher encounter rates for certain Pokémon, but it's still a nice boost for existing players (and Niantic is probably hoping for some lapsed ones as well). The new event isn't officially tied to Thanksgiving, but the Pokémon Go team did call it a "Celebration to Say Thank You" in a blog post announcing the news, so the link is obvious. The Go team also underlined that the game's specific goal is to "encourage exploration and improve fitness," and boosting XP gain and Stardust should help, since moving about and capturing new Pokémon is the simplest method to acquire both. Daily bonuses, which reward players for coming in and playing every day, have just arrived in Pokémon Go, so it's not surprising to see other planned in-game events that strive to increase stickiness even further. Still, the Halloween event raised in-game interest and spending tremendously, and I expect the Thanksgiving event to do the same. Trainers have a variety of choices for maximizing their XP and Stardust acquisition throughout this event. This event will essentially operate as a perpetual Lucky Egg bonus in terms of XP gain (it stacks with Lucky Egg as well) with the addition of Stardust drops. Players should engage in following actions:

• Lucky Egg evolution is now 4x efficient (2x Lucky Egg + 2x event bonus)
• Make sure your daily Pokémon streak is up and running, as it now will reward the following:
  • 1000 XP and 1200 Stardust for First Catch of the Day
  • 4000 XP and 4800 Stardust for 7 day streak
• Of course, catching Pokémon and Hatching Eggs is a must

The Pokemon Company and Niantic have announced that a special in-game event for Thanksgiving would be launched to thank its fans for their continuing support. Pokemon Go Trainers will be able to earn twice the amount of experience points and Stardust while performing in-game activities beginning November 23rd at 12am UTC (4pm PST / 7pm EST on 11/22) and ending November 30th at 12am UTC (4pm PST / 7pm EST on 11/29).
