There's no question that many Pokemon GO fans are now loving all that the new Trainer Battles feature has to offer, but it seems like Niantic is already planning to add even more content to the mobile augmented reality game in the future. In fact, the video game developer just stated that the ARG will conduct another Community Day event starring the Water-type, Totodile, next month.
On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Pokemon GO users will notice a higher Totodile spawn rate from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM EST, with Niantic also boosting the length of the effects of Lures to three hours rather than the regular one hour. Furthermore, the game creator announced that Eggs would hatch in one-quarter the time they regularly do. Trainers will also have a chance to meet a Shiny Totodile if prior Community Day events are any hint of what's to store next month.
Furthermore, if Pokemon GO users manage to develop Totodile into its ultimate evolution from Croconaw to Feraligatr within an hour of Community Day ending, the Water-type will learn an unique event-exclusive attack that it would not normally be able to learn. While Niantic has yet to clarify what move this would be, the great majority of PoGO fans believe it will be Hydro Cannon.
Overall, it's nice to see Niantic continue with Pokemon GO's Community Day events next year, as it should serve as a strong method to keep users engaged with the mobile ARG. With the featured monster for January 2019 set, it will be intriguing to see what the developer has in store for the next month's Community Day event in February 2019. Nonetheless, we'll have to wait to see which Pocket Monster is featured, and for the time being, we'll just have to enjoy the contents of PoGO's winter event in 2018.
Last but not least, Pokemon GO's Third Annual Holiday event has begun. This introduces new generation 4 species, a new legendary Raid, increased spawn rates for ice type pokemon, and new baby species emerging from eggs.
Mark January 12th on your calendars to receive Totodile and its evolutions. Even if you don't plan to catch the highlighted pokemon, you may use the incubator and lure features for the day.
